Not complying with or contravening the conditions of an environmental authorisation
Every environmental authorisation will include certain conditions which the holder will need to comply with. Contravening these conditions is an offence in terms of the National Environmental Management Act.
Undertaking listed activities without an environmental authorisation
Listed activities are those activities that are likely to cause significant environmental impact. They are listed in the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations. These activities require environmental authorisation and cannot be undertaken without same.
Air pollution
This falls under the mandate of the municipality and therefore is likely to be referred to the relevant municipality. Please try to also inform/report to the relevant municipality.
Destruction of sensitive ecosystems or indigenous vegetation
This includes but is not limited to the management of alien and invasive species without the required authorisation, and illegal possession of protected species without a permit.
Illegal hunting i.e. poaching
Marine and Coastal issues i.e. fishing, oil spills, illegal access to coastal areas
Handling of hazardous substances, including emission of toxic fumes and storage of hazardous substances
Including amongst other things, management, treatment and disposal of hazardous waste.
